The 12th National Wagyu Championship was held in Kagoshima Prefecture from October 6 to 10, 2022, to determine the national Wagyu champion.
Kagoshima Prefecture exhibited 24 cattle that had won the qualifying rounds from all over the prefecture, and won first place (Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award) in 6 out of 9 categories.
In the “Breeding Cattle” category, the “District 4 (Breeding Cattle)” was awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize and was crowned “Japan’s Best Wagyu Beef Cattle.
In addition, in the “Beef Cattle Division,” the best carcass prize was also awarded.
